Become a homestay or experience host

Thank you for your interest in becoming a homestay or experience host! As a first step, please take a moment to carefully read the guidelines that apply to you.

Guidelines for homestay hosts

Required facilities

All host families must provide at minimum the following facilities and amenities for guests:

  • A clean, secure home in a safe neighborhood
  • A private room that can be locked, or a secure cabinet with a lock and key
  • A clean bathroom and place to bathe (may be a shared bathroom)
  • A clean towel and bedsheets

Host family qualifications

Adventure Homestay is different from other accommodation marketplaces because we offer authentic family homestay experiences, not commercial rentals. To maintain this standard, all hosts must fulfill the following guidelines:

  • You must accommodate guests at your main residential home. You may not rent out spaces that are not your family's current place of residence.
  • You and your family must be living in the home during the guest's stay, and at least one member of the family must be available to spend time personally with guests.
  • Our platform is for lodging in the home of a host family only. Please do not list hotels (defined as a facility with more than six rental rooms).
  • Hosts are encouraged to provide breakfast, which may be included or carry an additional cost as specified in your listing. (You may optionally offer other meals to guests at an additional cost.)
  • Provide reasonable help and advice for guests to navigate your neighborhood and access local transportation or other services.

Other guidelines

For the safety and comfort of guests, all hosts and family members must observe the following guidelines:

  • Keep your home clean, and observe high standards of cleanliness for any food served to guests.
  • Maintain reasonable quiet hours at night.
  • Do not smoke indoors when a non-smoking guest is present.
  • Do not engage in family arguments in front of guests.
  • Do not ask guests for money, other than payment of the advertised cost of the homestay, or as agreed for extra meals and services.
  • Keep your listing up to date, monitor your phone and email daily for communications from guests, and respond promptly to all messages and information requests.

Guidelines for experience hosts

Experience hosts must fulfill the following guidelines:

  • Offer high-quality activities that allow participants to experience something unique about your location or culture.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, including in your choices of transportation, food and drink, and location.
  • Ensure all listings accurately describe the experience, including duration, activities included, and any costs not included in the price of the experience.
  • Do not ask participants for money or pressure them to make any purchases, beyond the cost of participation that is specified in your listing. You may accept tips if they are offered, but do not ask for them.
  • If anything changes in the activities covered by the experience, make sure to update your listing accordingly.
  • Keep your listing up to date, monitor your phone and email daily for communications from guests, and respond promptly to all messages and information requests.
